The common bond you will share with other guests is a desire to stay clean and sober and to experience a new life of recovery from the effects of addiction in your life. Addiction manifests in many forms and affects all members of your family. As our guest, you will find Hope and Health when you have had problems with:

    Other addictions and compulsions *

    • Smoking
    • Workaholism
    • Food obsessions
    • Sexual compulsivity
    • Exercise
    • Perfectionism
    • CoDependancy
  • Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA's) *
  • Co-existing problems* (e.g. anxiety, depression)
  • Or simply a desire for renewal and personal growth


A Home Away is for adult men and women. A Home Away is a retreat experience in a resort setting; it is not a medical treatment center that provides health care*. In order for you to safely and effectively benefit from your stay, the requirements for attending are:

  • 19 years of age or older
  • clean and sober for at least several days
  • medically healthy* **
  • fully capable of independent activities of daily living**

International guests are welcome. A Home Away has helped adults of all ages and types from across Canada and the USA, and South America. Our guests come from far and wide; from British Columbia (BC) and Alberta to Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia; to Washington, California, New York or Florida. The Kelowna International Airport is only a short 25 minute drive away.

We are open to and embracing of all races, religious beliefs (or lack of belief), and ethnicities, regardless of social/economic class or sexual orientation.

* A Home Away is NOT a medical facility and does not take responsibility for the medical care of guests. If you are under medical or mental health care or receiving such treatment, you are advised to consult with your healthcare practitioner(s) as to your suitability for a visit to A Home Away. ** Not dependent upon caregivers for continuing assistance, or direction, for assistance with activities of daily living (such as eating, mobility, grooming, personal hygiene); storage, administration or monitoring of medication; managing cash resources or property; monitoring food intake; structured behaviour management or intervention; or psychosocial rehabilitative therapy or intensive physical rehabilitative therapy.
